Restaurant Name: Isshin Restaurant
This is a japanese restaurant situated in Haidian District, just accross from my university. The decoration is all japanese and they also have little back rooms where we can sit on the floor, the tables being separated by a thin bambou curtain, giving each table some intimacy. Service is really attentive. Sushis are very delicious and the food is prepared in a good hygiene environment. Hygiene can be a problem in Beijing but eating fresh food in this restaurant is safe. Sometimes, there is a special promotion where all the sushis are half price !!! What a good deal !!!
Favorite Dish: All the sushis are good. Some of my japanese friends also think that this restaurant is good. My favorite sushi are the salmon mayo rolls. The potato salad and the Isshin Salad are especially delicious (the sauce of the salad is really nice !!)

Restaurant Name: Pink Loft
Pink Loft is a new restaurant added to the Loft group, which already has a bar (The Loft) and a noodle shop (Loft Noodle Restaurant). This is a Thai restaurant and the entire place's decoration is pinkinsh/redish. The ambience is really relaxing as we can eat while seated on those huge and confortable sofas. They are also open after 10 pm for people wanting to have a late night snack.
Favorite Dish: I love their thai shrimp spring rolls and their satay skewers. It's really worth a try. Their green curry smells good and it's not too hot for me. The rice are free here.

Restaurant Name: LiQun Roast Duck Restaurant
This restaurant has been the object of TV reports and has appeared in different travel guides. This is probably why there are so many tourists and expatriates the restaurant. At the entrance, we can see the ducks being roasted. As it is situated inside a hutong (it's pretty complicated to find it the first time !), I think it adds to the charm of this restaurant. If you can't find it, don't hesitate to ask locals living in the hutongs, they all know this restaurant !
Favorite Dish: Roast Duck of course !

Restaurant Name: Fuku Restaurant
After a few months living in China, you would like to eat something light and fresh such as salads you can find in western countries. We were first attracted to this restaurant because my friends and I biked past it one afternoon. It was still in construction and later, we found out that it was a chinese restaurant. At that time, we thought that there were no chinese restaurants around the Houhai area that is why we decided to try it out. But after a few more bike rides and walks, we discovered quite a few ! The ambience and decoration in this restaurant quite clash with the surrounding : indeed, the neighborhood is old and authentic while this restaurant is modern yet simple. But this is not true anymore as a lot of trendy and classy restaurant/bar have opened up around the area.
Favorite Dish: I really like their salad here, especially the Garden House Salad. I know it sounds weird to eat western salads in a chinese restaurant. Their salad is huge, order one and share it with 3/4 people, as a starter. The salad is nice and it feels really good to eat fresh vegetables here ! Their egg fried rice is really good too.

Restaurant Name: Nuage
I celebrated my birthday here with my friends. It was the first time I went there and I had a really nice time. The atmosphere is quite cosy and the decoration is nice. It 2 floors and on the ground floor, there are vietnamese tuck-tucks transformed into seats. A fountain is situated below the stairs, around the bathroom and it's a great place for photos. Waitresses are all dressed in traditionnal vietnamese dresses.
Favorite Dish: I liked the green papaya salad as a cold dish. Spring rolls and vegetarian spring rolls are good. The pumpkin is very good too. Steam rice is free.
