What to say about Beijing after having lived here for the past year ?

There are so many things I want to share yet at the same time, I want to keep all these memories for myself, simply because that was MY experience, MY BEIJING...

For the time being, I have left the chinese capital as my one-year language program at
Beijing Language and Culture University has come to an end.
Beijing Language and Culture University

Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) has been such an incredible experience for me. It is said that this is the place where we can find the most foreign people in Beijing. That is probably why we would often see people in the film and commercial industries coming at our university to find foreign students (they love blonde people !!) to act in TV series or ads.

Studying here have made me meet some fantastic people coming from all over the world. Such an international experience !

My schedule wasn't too tight because I didn't want to choose too many options and get stuck in China only to study. I also wanted to visit Beijing and travel a bit.

BLCU is situated in Haidian District (universities' district) and pretty close to the old and new Summer Palace, which is perfect !

It would take us an hour to go visit Mao (Tiananmen Sq.) if we choose to hop on a bus. That's the major con having to live so far from downtown.

I tried to visit all of Beijing's trademarks and also to know the old Peking. I really liked to talk to Beijingers as they are always so friendly except when they try to rip you off because you're a foreigner and therefore, you must be really RICH !!!

Beijing has always got me fascinated by its rapid changes... I just discovered a new place called Dashanzi : it's a mine of modern art galleries situated is an almost deserted industrial complex. It's such a great idea to have opened up galleries/exhibitions in some old factories, we can even see old slogans from Mao's era.

Let me present Beijing to you, seen through my eyes...

The map you refer to (with bus routes) are all in Chinese. So not easy to read for the average non Chinese speaking traveller
