Edinburgh - My Home

by PA68 - last update: Jul 17, 2003

I was born and raised in Edinburgh and haven't quite managed to get away. Like anyone, I guess I get a bit bored with the place I live but I suppose it could be worse.

Tourists come to Edinburgh in their hundreds of thousands every year so it must have something to offer.

As I've lived here all my life I guess I should know it was well as most people. I'll attempt to identify some of the spots around town that may not be obvious to the average tourist but are worth checking out. These will most likely be bars, restuarants etc.

As I don't tend to walk about Edinburgh taking pictures the site may be a little bare for a while. It's going to be a work in progress.

Pros:"Loads of tourist sites plus bars and restaurants a plenty."
Cons:"The weather, what else/"
In A Nutshell:"If you like old gray buildings then we've got them!"

As I'm planning my first trip to Edinburgh in Aug, I'm so glad to see your restaurant views sound similar to mine - I love local coffee houses and try to stay away from Starbucks, and those great sounding but reasonable restaurants are a very welcome tip.

I'm deep in the middle of Ian Rankin's "The Falls" and dying to get back to Edinburgh! I know it's tough to write about your home town but I hope you will!

Oh great! Starbucks invaded Scotland, too? *sigh* ... Enjoying your pages, PA68! I'll be one of the thousands of tourists coming to your town in 2005!
