Maxime had been for ages a cabaret, and now re-opened by one of Portugal's more controversial music artist.
Maxime has a long story has a cabaret, now it's just a bar with live music but they kept it's original trace. It's amazing!!! I was truly surprised when i went there for the first time some weeks ago. The decoration is really beautiful in a cabaret style. It's really worth to check it out, and they usually have some interesting stuff happening there - most of the nights it's live music and more frequently alternative portuguese bands.
Unfortunately they don't have a website.

Address: Pra?a da Alegria
Directions: It's just of Avenida da Liberdade, on your left hand if your going up. The closest tube station is Avenida.

Another place to go is to Rua da Bica. It's a very cool street on a cool quarter. It's a very steep street, to go up people usually take this elevator that looks like a tram. I think it's closed by 12am, but the nice bars are just on top of the street and you can more simply get there from chiado area (no tough climbing). The Bicanense cafý, to your left when facing down the street, is the one i personally prefer. Dj music a small bar, but you can always take your drinks outside, and a dancing room.
Dress Code: I don't think you'll ever see in my nightlife tips something other that: whatever! I don't like the kind of place where i have to be like others want me to. I like to be relaxed and confortable.

It's on the last floor of a theatre. Really relaxed. A variety of nights. It can be some poetry night, tango lessons, concerts or just some nice bossa nova.
Dress Code: just be yourself.
Address: Largo de Santos

The name of this bar means "wine collection" (or wine cellar). So it's a place where we can have some good wines and have some portuguese delicacies to go with it.
It's a small cosy place with some live music that goes from brazil to argentina. Nice for a good talk.
It's in the center of cascais.

Fluid is a really cool bar, in Santos, which is an area with loads of bars and lots of people in the streets.
the only problem with it's the size. It's a really small palce, always packed, cause the music is good, there's always a dj giving out the ambient! but if you go during week nights you might get the cnahce to seat down and check the cool decoration, kind of 50's.
Don't forget to drink vodka with fresh-apple juice.
Dress Code: whatever.

You can start off with a nice dinner at some restaurant, like one you can find mentioned in some Lisbon page, then some drinks at Bairro Alto, which is a very cool quarter, with old houses and loads odd diferent bars, you cruise around and check out the diversity, and when the bars are closing, you can go to a club. My favourite is Lux! It's a really cool club, just by the river. It has a great view, speacially if you manage to be there until the sun is rising... the view it's fantastic by then!!
Great nights!!
Dress Code: To go to Bº Alto come as you are. You'll find a bar that suits you! When it comes to Lux, you don't have to go really 'smart'. it's quite casual. I never had problems coming in, and i never wear not-casual clothes, and always have my trainers on. Since it's a club, it can always be a bit tricky, but you defenetly won't have to wear a tie!! :))
Directions: Bº Alto is near Chiado tube station. Lux, it's a bit far off. It's near St. Apolónia train station, and you have buses that go there, from cais do sodré train station. their website is really cool!htt

There are loads of bars, at Largo de Santos, which is quite central Lisbon. You have small bars where you can drink waht we call 'shots' which is mixed liqouers (or not) but always quite alchoolic, in a tiny glass and you have to drink it straight. You have bars with chart music, but my favourite is 'Pérola', you can hear jazz, or chil out, or drum'n'bass, and it has a cool ambient.
