Air Canada Centre: Basketball Brawl
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • One night a few of us went to see The Raptors vs. Boston Celtics. We got very cheap seats up in the lofts and it was a really entertaining match. Brush with Authority #2 ! - When you go to you seats these guys grab your bag and tip the contents into a bin so no yum Figs for me - nasty :(

Back to the 'Game' .. it was close, but the best fun was at the intervals when various things happened. Like Baby Races. Like Getting 3 Tiles in Row. Only on this night could such a simple game go badly wrong. Somehow both guys screwed up and it was a draw(?!) heheee...

  • On this night there was a Baseball game on and so a group of us got together and headed over to the Rodgers Centre. I expected a bigger crowd - most of the huge stadium was empty. I can't say I was taken by the whole thing - even though it was the NY Yankees vs the Jets (I think that's what their called)

    Niagara Falls: Noisey Water
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • As part of the Magic Bus Tour I was on that day we visited Niagra Falls. It is very impressive and b i g (of course) I was suprised how close you can be to it. The town of Niagra is an appauling mess of Capitialist mush but just keep your back to it and you'd never know it was there :)

A group of us decided to be adventurous and walk over towards the Yanky bridge but it looked bit dodgy so we kept on going.. and going ... we passed some Motels that looked abandoned, a huge imitation Chinese Temple Hotel thing(!) a really big souviner shop.. until we decided we had better get back to the bus. On the bus we went all the way to where we had walked anyway!

  • As part of the Magic Bus Tour we first stopped off at Birchwood Wineries on the outskirts of Toronto. It's a facinating thing to learn about how Ice Wine (for what the area is wolrd famous for) is made. 2 a.m, middle of winter, -20C in the mix makes for alot of wine making fun. It is yum btw.

A very nice girl (who is half Irish, like meself) told us all about the history and knowledge involved with Ice Wine and we tasted a few glasses of the sweet wine. And then some more because we forgot the first time.

Harbourfront & Toronto Islands: Great beaches in the city ..

  • Ferry going out to Centre Island

  • The Toronto Ferry Docks are located at the foot of Bay Street and Queens Quay. Be careful to enter from here. Myself and new found friend while I was there, John, went through an open gate only to be accousted by some security official type dude (run in with Canadian authority #3) and told us we were in the wrong place (even though we could see the ferry?!) instead of letting us just go back out by ourselves, he ESCORTED us off the area! That's when it struck us how strange authority is here!

Anyway the Islands were great, even though it was before the tourist season and so most things were closed but the beach is great. On this particular day it was very hot on the beach (the sand was burning) yet when we were back on the ferry crossing the lake it got windy and VERY cold so if you are going in May/April make sure you have lots of layers with you or it could get uncomfortable!

Ward's Island is worth a cycle / walk over to. There are people living here and we came across a fire station and unusual wooden stand that had books and clothes, like neighbours were leaving out some things they no longer need and you are free to take / trade for?! There are fantastic views of the Toronto Skyline from here too.
