Taupo is a town beside the lake's edge and situated in the middle of the North Island. Mostly a holiday town, it has a growing permanent population. This is a place that New Zealanders use as a holiday town as well as overseas tourists and that makes the atmosphere fun and exciting with the cross section of people wandering the streets.
Summertime there are walks and treks and summer mountain activities, and winter time brings skiing as well.
Bungy jumping, sailing, skydiving, flying all happen year round weather permitting of course. It's also the venue for many marathon and cycle racing events.
Oh and did I mention the flyfishing and hunting!

I would love the hot springs & my girls would too & my wife would love the jewellery so maybe I can keep working on her for us to have a N.Z. holiday. Hopefully we'll get over there sooner rather than later.
