If at all you can get around Auckland in a car or if you are prepared to get a taxi, this area is worth a visit for it's amazing restaurants and cafés. Visually Kingsland is not very attractive, however the place grows on you, from the art deco toilets to the cultural diversity of it's inhabitants.
Unfortunately the main problem I found here is the lack of parking. Especially during the evening when the very popular cafés and restaurants are full and lots of people are here. So I recommend that you allow a few extra minutes to either look for parking or to walk from your car which could be a wee way away from where you are going to dine.
There are some nice little clothing boutiques scattered among the cafés here. They looked very nice, perhaps expensive, but nice designer type clothes from looking thru the windows.

I love the way they have tidied up and painted the Ladies and Mens toilets here in Kingsland, almost made me want to use them!!

Plenty of different eating venues to choose from here at Kingsland. Some have nice tables outside for when the sun is shining, others have very tasteful and intersting décor.
Even a stroll down the street here is an enjoyable activity. Perhaps at night time it's necessary to be a little vigilant, but that is the norm anywhere in this day and age.
