A great place to stop for a meal while travelling south, it has traditionally been a support town for the forestry industry.

Very clever and appealing tree stump carvings right beside the highway in Tokoroa.

As you drive south from Tokoroa, you pass the entrance to the pulp and paper mill, Kinleith. There is another log carving, reflecting the trees and culture of the region, beside the main road. This one is very interesting with Tuataras climbing to the top. I particularly like this one :-)
