The Royal Palace occupies the site of the Muslim Alcazar, rebuilt by Charles V and Philip II. From 1561 onwards, it was the usual residence of the monarchs. After its destruction by fire in 1734, Philip V ordered a New Royal Palace to be built on the same site. Areas visited: Main staircase, Halberdiers room, Hall of columns, Throne room, Saleta and antechamber of Charles III, Chamber and bedroom of Charles III, Gala dinning room, Music room, China collection and Royal chapel.
