Nightlife Spot: The Burren
Very popular place with the locals. There are live bands every night, sometimes even directly from Ireland. Lots of stone structures, making the pub feel authentic. Unfortunately, I missed the Irish Dancing lessons that happen Monday nights at 8, but I hear they're a hoot. They don't have a huge selection of beers, but they have enough to please a variety of people, plus they have a few wines, hard ciders, and non-alcoholic beers. Food from their lunch menu is served up until 5pm when they switch over to their dinner menu. Try their Guinness Beef Stew for dinne -- excellent!!

Nightlife Spot: The Enormous Room
Not really very big considering the name! This is not your typical bar. Expect to lounge around on couches rather than at bar stools or typical bar tables. They have a lot of low couches and chairs, and even some low tables where you sit on the floor to eat. Lighting is low, and music is eclectic ? usually some sort of international music. Their menu is pretty simple. They only have a few things (like 6 or 7) on the menu. Most of their things are mixed platters, some of which say to ?allow for creativity? ? ie, you get what you get. The food is very Mediterranean and North African. If you?re lucky (ie, they aren?t too busy), you can get desserts from downstairs. Otherwise, you?re on your own! Cocktails are the way to go here, and are worth checking out. There are only 8 types of bottled beer and none of draught. They only serve real coffee, no decaf. Open at 5:30 pm every day. Closes 1am Sun- Wed, 2 am Th-Sat.

Whiskey's: Meeting place or meat market?

Nightlife Spot: Whiskey's
Early in the evening, Whiskey's caters to the after-work crowd, so it's worth going. Later, however, it becomes a popular hangout for Boston's collegiate set. The ratio of men to women tends to make this place a classic pick-up joint on the weekends. The bouncers tend to get ruder as the evening goes on, and the crowds make it really difficult to have a pleasant conversation. I'd say go early and leave early! If you're hungry, they have plenty of good food, both standard bar food (potatoe skins, wings) and barbecue (meaty ribs, pulled pork). The burgers and wings are particularly worth trying. The atmosphere is "laid-back sports bar". There is a huge selection of beers. Enjoy 10-cent wings at the bar, Sundays through Thursdays from 4pm-11pm. Selected appetizers cost $2.50 on weekdays from 4pm-6pm. On Sundays, women get free appetizers from 7-11 pm.

Pour House: Cheap beer and good burgers

Nightlife Spot: Pour House
If you're looking for a good time in boston and don't want to spend a lot of money on drinks, then the Pour House is for you. The drinks are very cheap ($4.00 for a 22 ounce draft) and the food is just as cheap (Saturdays half off burgers). The only down side about the place is that the music tends to be a bit too loud and it's hard time trying to comunicate with other. All in all though, a great bar to go to with friends. If you like margaritas, get a pitcher - and try the amazing nachos! The upstairs is nice, a full bar and booth tables to eat and hang out with your friends. Downstairs is a tiki bar and tends to be a little darker and a little louder, but a nice place to get your drink on. My favorite thing is the table art-- gives you something funky to look at while you pound down those drinks.

Solas: Irish Pub on Boylston Street

Nightlife Spot: Solas
Cozy corners and a lively bar allows for intimate gatherings, celebrations, and animated events -- so the pub is aptly named - Solas is gaelic for Comfort. The floor has some beautiful tiling, the wood is stained dark, the bar stools are comfy. The drink choices are extensive - as expected, they have a wide range of whiskeys and brandies, Guiness and lots more on tap, plenty of wines. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but very very good! They have lots of Irish things (French Onion soup made with Guinness, Shepherd's pie, Irish Beef Stew - I'd recomment this one), some Thai curry things (try the curry fries appetizer!), sandwiches.
