It is extremely easy to get around Syria.
use Kadmous buses for intercity travelling. The most you will pay for a long-distance journey within the country is about 200 Syrian pounds (4 US dolars).
Use the train to travel from Aleppo to Latakia. You can travel first class for less than 2 US dolars and the views are astonishing.
But the greatest bargain ever is the intracity transportation. Microbuses are extremely cheap in Syria (a journey which covers pretty much a whole city the size of Damascus) won't cost you more than 10 Syrian Pounds (roughly, 20 American Cents!), even if you have to change buses once!
