Favorite Thing: Yes that is a plam tree growing in Canada! Vancouver has a very mild climate compared to most of Canada, the winters are mild and wet (lots of rain, but it rarely snows).I saw snow in the city maybe 5 times last winter, but its ussally just a dusting that melts off by the afternoon. However the local mountains get lots of snow, cypress mountain has over 5 mt of snow at the top of sky chair this season. In the spring it is great, you can go boarding on the local mountains in the morning and go chill on the beach or go golfing in the afternoon, I dont know if there are any other cities that can offer that. The summers are sunny and warm most of the time.

Favorite Thing: Go to Whistler!! The picture is my friend Nic on Whistler Mt. If you are into snowboarding or skiing it is totally worth checking out. Whistler has been voted #1 resort in North America. The terrain is amazing, the snow is deep, and the village is happening. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler is only 1 1/2 hours, and one of the most scenic drives in Canada.

Favorite Thing: Vancouver (a.k.a. Vansterdam) is a very liberal city; casual marijuana use for the most part is tolerated. Although Vancouver does not have coffee shops like Amsterdam, it does come close. There are underground shops that sell marijuana, but they are illegal and are often busted and closed. However there are cafes that allow you to smoke cannabis, like Blunt Brothers and the New Amsterdam.
