Rapunzel's Tower? - Steinau an der Straße

Steinau an der Strasse - or "Stone Valley on the Road" is a cross roads. This is where the Half-Timbered Road crosses with the Fairy-Tale Road.

How did this come about? The Grimm Brothers, the German Fathers of the Fairy Tale, spent much of their lives in this city, which is why there is another road to discover in Germany - the Fairy Tale Road - but we'll leave that to another traveloge.

Steinau is very welcoming ,especially for children. There is a beautiful "Fairytale Fountain" in front of the puppet theater.I have just booked a "storyteller" to come to our class.Lots of festivals and a Christmas arket coming up.

Another comprehensive and highly informative page! I used to take my children to the Marionette Theater in Steinau when they were younger, it was great. And I know the Director of the Brüder Grimm Museum (there I go bragging again, sorry).
