I'm an American and live in a small town in the Rhön (Hessian Rhön) together with my German Husband. I have been living in Germany for 20 years. When I was young - age 12 - I began taking German in school. And every Friday we saw slide shows of castles in Germany with castles and those "cute" half-timbered houses. Back then I proudly declared to my classmates, that when I grow up, "I'm going to live in a half-timbered house across the street from a castle". They all laughed and thought I was full of it. Although I met my husband in Frankfurt, I never imagined it would really come true. Now isn't fate strange? Maybe there is no such thing as a coincedence. This region where I live has advantages and disadvantages; advantages such as the fact I don't have to lock my car up at night; disadvantages such as the fact there isn't much choice for shopping coffee bars or theatres. But, this place is so rich in history and folklore it was begging me to jot some of the ideas down in a novel. Before I knew it expanded to 264 pages, and now I am attempting to market it before moving on to the next one. Sometimes I write blogs about living in Germany, but not here, because they are blogs and not traveloges. If you would like to read my blogs please visit my other page. |

| | Travel Plans Recently, I have been taking pictures of smaller towns in the Rhön, because I think the main tourist attractions are a little over-done . Time to take photographs of the really scenic places that are out of the way, particularily in the German State of Hessen - a rather underated state compared to it's neighbor states, Bavaria and Baden-Wuertemberg. |
So you think my pictures are quaint.... Actually so do I. But ever since I fell in love with digital photography, I suddenly keep re-discovering so many ordinary scenes we take for granted.
My advice to you: Photograph the most ordninary things around the place were you live, because the chances are big that many people will admire them, when they visit this site. Let other people discover the small wonders of where you live! | | | Rolled, not bailed hay in the Rhön |
