Good Friends Chinese Restaurant - Berlin

Good Friends Chinese Restaurant

Good Friends: Best Chinese in Berlin

This restaurant is situated on a popular corner of Kant Strasse. The restaurant is not like most of the Chinese restaurants in Berlin, These usually have a mock Chinese temple type entrance, but the food here is definately the best I have tasted especially after having lived in Vancouver for many years!

Prices are not that cheap usullay around 8-9 euro but the portions are good.

Favorite Dish: The duck is good and so too the grilled pork.

Alter Fritz - Berlin

Alter Fritz

Alter Fritz: Brew pub German Food Review

This country pub has a wonderful atmosphere and is very nicely decorated also has a large beer garden and grill for the summer. They brew their own beer on the premises and also have a quality menu.

Favorite Dish: My favourite here is always the ribs with country potatoes. The ribs are not typically German but more to the American style very juicy and covered in BBQ sauce. The menu is not that large but all the meals are good and you get a very generous portion.

Weihenstephaner: Oldest brewery in Germany German Food Review

Weihenstephaner I believe are the oldest brewer in Germany and are of course Bavarian.

The restaurant/bar has a good selection on the menu, the food is very good and portions aren't too bad. Maybe a bit pricey but you pay for the location. As they only have their own beer the selection isn't vast but there are usually 4 or 5 to chose from. As they are Bavarian there is also a large selection of Obstlers or fruit schnappes as weel. The bar may not seem large but there is also a large cellar and in the summer tables and chairs outside.

Favorite Dish: I like the bratwurst with mashed potatoes.

Monsieur Vuong Indochina cafe: A place to be seen, if you can get a table.

This very cool restaurant is not only a hit with the “In crowd” of Berlin but without name dropping too much, the likes of Bruce Willis is a regular patron when visiting Berlin. The restaurant has a menu but also has a blackboard with a couple of specials for €6.50. These are two different types of meat , one rice the other noodles. They will replace the meat with Tofu for vegeterians! Why not wash that down with a cold bottle of Saigon beer or one of the excellent and very reasonably priced French wines. After your meal sit back and enjoy a Vietnamese coffee before they ask you to leave as they will probably need your table. This place is very busy and you will more than likely have a short wait for a table. Due to the popularity of this establishment it is not possible to reserve a table

Favorite Dish: The menu changes so it's hard to say!

Berlin tradition!

None: The Germans love to eat!

Where ever there is a market there is food and the Kunstmarkt is no exception!

There are a few restaurants in the area but generally if the weather is good, a Berliner will by a rostbrat and eat standing at a food stall!

Favorite Dish: Rostbrat!

Jim and Sara enjoy the Turkish delights! - Berlin

Jim and Sara enjoy the Turkish delights!

Hitit: Best Turkish restaurant

To me this is one of the best and certainly luxurious Turkish restaurants in Berlin. There is certainly not a shortage of Turkish cuisine in Berlin, but this place is quite up market and the food is not only presented nicely but also delicious and the portions are good!

Favorite Dish: We always have a mixed starter plate and then a Turkish grill platter.

Hard Rock Cafe, Berlin - Berlin

Hard Rock Cafe, Berlin

Hard Rock Cafe: Good burgers Hard Rock Cafe Review

For the visitor from north America this place is no big deal , but if you are European it has more appeal because it is a great place to have a decent burger. We do of course have the usual fast foo outlets but there aren't too many places where you can sit in arestaurant atmosphere and have a burger.

Favorite Dish: Burgers!

Stop for coffee and cake! - Berlin

Stop for coffee and cake!

Kamps: Coffee and cake Snacks (Döner, Currywurst, etc.) Review

It is a tradition in Germany to stop and have coffee and cake in the afternoon. All over Berlin you will find bakeries with tables outside where you can buy a coffee and a piece of cake.

Haxen Haus, Tegel - Berlin

Haxen Haus, Tegel

Hax 'N' Haus: Great German food German Food Review

This is one of my favourites in Alt Tegel. The menu is very German with Haxe and Schnitzel featuring prominently. Dishes are served with the usual sides of Red cabbage, saukraut and dumplings. A good selection of beers and schnappes!

Favorite Dish: I usually go for a Haxe if I'm hungry if not then maybe a schnitzel.

Alex am Alexanderplatz - Berlin

Alex am Alexanderplatz

Alex am Alexanderplatz: Popular daytime haunt

This is a popular restaurant during the summer, when Alexanderplatz gets quite busy. This place has a more modern or should I say International menu than most German bars in the city.

Favorite Dish: I didn't eat here yet, just had a cold beer!

Address: Alexanderplatz, Berlin-Mitte

Comparison: more expensive than average

Directions: Directly under the TV tower.

Price: US$11-20
