Always have some change on you!

Favorite thing: I suppose it depends on where you come from, but in England we have a saying about spending a penny. This means going to the toilet or washroom for you Americans. Now in Berlin you will find in a lot of the larger pubs and clubs as well as department stores, stadiums and at almost any festival a bathroom attendant. These people do in fact keep the toilets clean and they do in fact expect payment., especially at festivals where they will stand outside the door! Usually a 50 cent coin will be sufficient! But it is important that you remember to always keep some change!

Fondest memory: In some pubs the bathroom attendants can be quite amusing the yeven offer candies and gum. On the other hand they can be annoying if you are doing your business and they just wander in and start cleaning around you!

George and the Dragon

Favorite thing: You can spend a complete afternoon here. Have lunch and a beer in Berlin's oldest pub and then look around the interesting craft shops and take some pictures of the statues, including the original Berlin bear!

Strictly for the boys! - Berlin

Strictly for the boys!

Pissoire

Favorite thing: The first time I saw one of these was when I came staggering out of an Irish pub in east Berlin on a boys night out. Of course there aren't too many of them around as they now have more modern public toilets. The picture I have taken here is of the one in Alt Tegel, it is actually fairly new, I believe in the last couple of years.

Portable bratwurst! Useful Information Review

Favorite thing: A funny sight that is becoming more common in Berlin is the one man Rostbrat vendor. They actaully walk around with a grill and cook the bratwursts whilst on the move. I haven't tasted one of these but they are a good alternative to standing at the imbiss.

No shortage of Apothekes in Berlin. - Berlin

No shortage of Apothekes in Berlin.

Medicines etc. Useful Information Review

Favorite thing: Unlike North America it is useful to know that painkillers or any sort of medication even contact lens fluid cannot be purchased in drug stores. You have to visit an Apotheke. Fortunately there is no shortage. Even in the smallest of villages you will always find one, but you won't always find what you want. Opening hours are usually from 8:00 am until 2:00pm although alot have after hour services and at the ring of the bell you can get some service.

I see rain!

Beautiful Berlin

Favorite thing: Berlin is best seen in the spring, summer and autumn. The city boasts one third of it's area is made up of water and forest. Where ever you go in the city you will find a nice park with lakes and plenty of woodland.

Fondest memory: Sitting in a beer garden by the lake watching the world go by.
