This is where I'm proud to call my home. I have loved almost every place I've been, but there is just something about England. And Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland too apparently, but I've not been to them long enough to properly say how good or bad they are. Of course England has got its bad points, but so has everywhere hey?
You have got to see the countryside, the pubs and the cool buildings and structures if you come over. The cities and towns are usually good for a walk around, and there's some lovely hikes around the countryside. The weather is nowhere near as bad as all you Canadians and Americans have told me you expect it to be either!!
England has got the best nightlife from any country I've been to too, and I guess its got more history than most. A common response I get when I say my house was built in the 1600's is 'aren't you afraid it'll fall down on you', but in my area it's actually quite common. By the way, the above is the only photo of my house I have, and its only the bit on the right which is from that period. The rest was added after the first world war.
The history of Oxford is really interesting locally too, from the start of Oxford as a place for Ox to cross the Thames (Oxford was originally Oxenford), to the beginnings of one of the best and most famous universities in the world. There are plenty of books and tours on all the time to tell you more, as I think Mr VT would be annoyed if I used enough storage space on the server to tell you all of the history of this area!
