New Zealand is an incredible place. A really really incredible place in fact. You've got the North Island with Maori culture and amazingly lunar-like volcanic activity. In a landscape that reminds me of Wales. And then you can go to another completely different environment, but in the same country, via a one hour ferry crossing. The South Island has got the most gorgeous landscape I've seen, from the mountains to the valleys with bright blue glacial water running through them, and from the small local communities to the relaxed Oxford-like Christchurch.
I have seen landscapes like this before, maybe not quite as spectacular, but similar I suppose. The thing about New Zealand is that amidst this scenery, you can do pretty much any activity you'd want to do. You can do world class hikes or scuba diving or water sports or snowboarding, and theres one of the best range of adrenaline sports in the world. Probably THE best. Looking back on New Zealand I can't actually believe how much we crammed into our months stay there. We took the Kiwi Experience coach tour around both Islands, as we heard it showed you a good deal of New Zealand, along with a lot of like-minded passengers. And I can tell you, as soon as we left Auckland on our tour we loved every second.
And if you like mad parties and don't mind looking at photos of people looking really stupid, please visit my Mahinapua travelogue. The above group of people look very different, I'll tell you now!
