Funky Key West

by GuyNoir - last update: Sep 3, 2002

If you come to Key West you have to get out on the ocean, it is beautiful, warm and unique.

Sure, it is hot in the summer, but it is my favorite time to be here. Lower prices, fewer people, smaller waves on the ocean and nice, warm water to fish or snorkle and cool off in.

Watch out for the shop with no name next to Crabby Dicks. Theres a guy that stands in front. They dislike confrontation. I suggest to talk loud so other tourists can overhear your complaints. They hate that kind of attention, its bad for business.

Very helpful tips. Great job. We were living in Key West when the conch train started (mid-late 60s) and it different now than it was then, but still IMHO a good start. We took it for old times sake, but also took the Bone Island Shuttle.

The Conch train is owned by a thug who has the tour business on the island locked up. He had the last guy who tried to open another tour route arrested and put out of business. Key West has been taken over by crooks. I should know, I lived there 5 years!
