The castle of Herrenchiemsee stands on the "Herreninsel" and a popular tourist attraction today.
The castle can be visited with guided tours only and the ticket costs € 6,50 and it includes also the visit of the Ludwig-Museum. It takes about 30 minutes.
Unfortuneately no photos my be taken inside !

In the castle there is also a museum with features the life of the "fairy tale king". Many documents, personal things of the king, coins and other can be seen there.
The visit in the museum takes you about 30 till 45 minutes and it is a must for all those of you who are interested in his life.

The garden is made in french style and consists of many great sculptures, fountains and flowers. From time to time they also turn on the water games for people who like to take pics .....
Take a walk around and enjoy the scenery! However, you can go around here as long as you want.

Things To Do: The old castle

It was built in the time before Ludwig II. and it was a monastery for a long time. Today it contents a museum which can be visited too, when on the island.
This castle is the cradle of the german constitution and in the museum they have some interesting documents about it ...
Unfortuneatly I had to less time to visit it.

You will pass the castle, when walking from the ship dock to the castle, and it is also rather big so that you cannot oversee it.

This is the most beautiful of all the fountains and it is a great masterpiece of art. It must also look great when all the water games are on. But that day they were turned off.
I don't know built it, so if you know the architect, please tell me.

It stand in the centre of the garden, just in front of the castle, simply unoverseeable !
