I haven't been back to Puerto Vallarta since 1990, except for the larger hotel chains that have gone up, downtown and much of the landscape I remember the same. The people and weather was exceptional, felt good to have sunshine on parts of my body that's not used to sunshine, as us alaskans don't get that luxury much... I was glad I selected the hotel up off the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of town, it was only 5 blocks and some switchbacks to the hotel, which we walked all over town most of the day, and was good exercise, heaven forbid I not get any exercise on vacation. I kinda miss those steps!! There was in internet cafe' shop on those steps..
The sun was just setting around 9pm, and people were gathering on the beach to watch it set and then the Caribbean Cruise ship came to let off the fireworks. What a beautiful time of the day....
Right after the sun set to the west, the ship came and let off fireworks for all to enjoy, every night at 9pm this occured while we were there. It's also called the booze cruise, you could hear music and people having fun on the boat.
- Pros:SPECTACULAR VIEW
- Cons:Walk the switchbacks
- In a nutshell:I'd stay up here again and again and again

LaSiesta Hotel is 5 blocks off the Malecon then up these switchbacks, which if your in good shape it's not so bad, but... more travel advice

Hola! Such good advice in your general tip. The local people and culture are the real pleasure of traveling, although the hidden waterfall was good too. Great photo of the fireworks, Patty.

Hi Patty, Beautiful pics and good tips show you had a great time there. Liz Taylor & Richard Burton filmed 'The Night of the Iguana' there in 1964, which almost ruined the town with tourists for a time. Doug (^_^)
