Moscow, and Russia, in 1989 was a strange place to be. I met people who absolutely despised Americans but then I'd be walking and see a McDonald's or a pizza place like in this photo (and this trailer came from New Jersey!). The architecture was astounding though most buildings were neglected and falling apart. I believe that Russia wins for having the most disgusting, unpalatable food out of any country that I've ever visited. It seemed like tourists were lucky though because they had access to food, the locals had to queue up for scraps. |
