This scene might look like something out of the 1700's but all those buildings are mid 20th century. Warsaw was bombed non-stop during WWII. The town planners were intellegent enough to use old paintings of the Old Town to restore the area to its original glory. Yes, it's a bit Disneyfied but much more attractive than if they designed the neighborhood with 1950's post-war architecture. |
