I spent 4 months here in 1987 on an exchange program from my university in New Jersey, USA to Worcester Polytechnic. This was my first trip out of the USA and really opened my eyes to the joys of travelling. Before I began school here, I spent 6 weeks backpacking around Europe alone. Doesn't sound like much for many of the VT world travellers but I was 19, alone, a woman and had only flown once in my life before this, a 2-hour flight to Orlando. So this was all pretty amazing to me, to see places I've only read about and to get the opportunity to live somewhere else besides New Jersey. Worcester will always have a special place in my heart.
