| The beautiful brown Arno. |
Florence (Firenze) is one of my favorite cities. Great to stroll around and always a cafe nearby for a quick espresso. I run on caffeine when in Italy and Florence has some great places to fill up. Many tourists spend all their time in the area surrounding the Duomo but there is so much more to see. Visit the other side of the Arno for some interesting neighborhoods. You will find smaller, less impressive churches but still beyond beautiful. The piazzas are like little neighborhood parks and there always good places to eat. Just look for the locals. Another great way to spend a day is to take a bus into the countryside, get off and walk around. The villages are quaint and have regular bus service back to Florence so it is not too risky. |
