Accommodation in London is ridiculously expensive and in short supply in July and August. There's the usual mix of hostels, university colleges, B&Bs and hotels. Earl's Court is a major centre for cheap hostels and hotels, but there are other good centres in Bloomsbury and Notting Hill. Less-cheap alternatives are Paddington, Bayswater and Pimlico.
Unique Qualities: Its basically cheap accomodation for students n budget travellers. You are close to all the museums, theatres, major shoppin malls and central london and have all kinds of transportation at hand. You'll find most of them on the net.

Try n find accomodation outide the City (central london-Zone 1), maybe zone 2. This is close to the City, saves time n money. You will find it on websites listing Bed n breakfast hotels n cheap hotels.
