I had planned to visit Kanazawa for a couple of years and was delighted when I finally got there, at the end of a wonderful trip around the north of Honshu. All the guidebooks led me to believe that it was extremely foreign-tourist friendly, but to be honest I didn't find this to be the case. I did enjoy my three days there though, and through sheer determination walked through the pain of flat feet and saw almost everything I wanted to see. My hotel was close to Kenroku-en, really handy for the Daiwa department store, the main shopping district, Mr Donut for breakfast.....I would not recommend Kanazawa, or any other part of Japan, during the rainy season. Even when it's not raining, the humidity saps your will to live! If you are used to high humidity, of course it won't bother you, but I would say that October is a better time to go. |
