Getting TO/AROUND: Now the best way to get around the city of Patong is to hire a Tuc Tuc, It shouldn't cost anymore then 100 batt from one end of town to the other.
Tuc Tuc are a open back ute style of machine with bench seat running down both sides, if it rains they have plastic see threw side panels that drop down to keep you dry

Getting TO/AROUND: Another way to get around the island is to hire one of the many Scooters, they are really cheap, about 200 batt a day and they come in full auto mode or manual, just be carefull of the traffic and remmber there's no insurance when renting a scooter

    Motorbikes: Big Bike Ride

Getting TO/AROUND: For me the best way of getting around the island of Phuket is to hire a large motorbike, there are several diffrent types from Harley Davidson's to Honda shadows.
The cost is from around 400batt to 1000 batt depending on the bike.
My pick several times was the 750 honda shadow customized. You have the bike for a full 24 hour period and you may travel anywhere you like. Just remmber that there is no insurrance when hiring a motor bike, so be carefull

    Renting cars and taxis: Jeep

Getting TO/AROUND: One morning while walking along Patong road we found that you could hire a jeep 4x4 with no roof, seeing as it was a sunny day we hired one, the cost was only 400 batt per 24 hour. We left a copy of our passport and headed away out of Patong City, we didn't take a map with us so we found that just heading down roads, we found some great temples and beach's, its a great way ot get around the island, just remmber to wear your hat and sunscreen.

Getting TO/AROUND: Even though there's many ways of getting around the island, the best way to see lots of things is to just walk, you can walk along the beach for miles, walk out of town, you never know what you will find, small shops tucked away, resturants loads of things.
Walking around at night is also a load of fun and is very safe, not once did we ever feel threatened or scared, every one greeted you with a smile, so don't be scared to use your feet.

I agree, Don. We have often eaten at places that are the type we're told are not safe, but have never had a problem, only cheap, delicious food.
