I drove down to Taos from Colorado Springs - a great drive in itself. Originally I had planned to stay in Santa Fe but Taos was recommended and is cheaper. It's a ski resort in winter and a very pleasant place for a summer visit with many arts and crafts shops. Taos Pueblo is a fine example of native Indian architecture and ingenuity. I loved the Enchanted Circle drive which I did a couple of times and was fortunate enough to see black bear on one occasion. The picture is of a shop on the road out from Taos going toward the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (not good if you don't like heights!). I really liked the colours of the chilis, blankets and pottery - especially against a fantastic blue sky. |
