I liked the way this photo came out. The old woman's face tells of a long, hard life. At first I wasn't happy about the background which is a box containing some kind of beauty product. However, I think that the contrast between the face of the old woman and the picture of the young girl on the box works quite well.
The Little India area of Singapore is vibrant and colourful.
Because of the ethnic diversity in Singapore there are festivals going on year round. Check locally to see what is going on while you are there. On 2 out of 3 occasions I have been to Singapore I have seen the Hindu Thaipusam festival. Unfortunately on my last trip I had to leave just before Chinese New Year which looked as if it would be a lot of fun.
- Pros:For the most part it is very clean and efficient
- Cons:A bit boring maybe after a few weeks
- In a nutshell:A great place to spend some time if you're travelling in SE Asia

Pretty interesting travel page and insight into visiting Singapore--I had heard about the no spitting campaign--also no bubble gum.
I'm so touched! You wrote down all those amusing musings from the base of my monument. If I was not a statue I'd march down Arab Street during Thaipusam Festival wearing a Bin Laden T-shirt and Union Jack shorts.
don;t dream too much...if not, you'll be come comatose anytime soon.*LOL*.ohh, lovely singapore pages....
A friend lived in Singapore for a while and found a Cobra in her garden one day!
Hmm...this is my first time here. Strange. I never miss a page. Thaipusam looks like a great photo op.
Another page filled with colorful, lively photographs and commentary!! I've been to Singapore twice and never made it to the Night Zoo and missed that Thaipusam Festival (although it does look a lot like the Castro St. Fair in SF!!) ;->
Hi Phil, in the 9 months since I've been living in Singapore, the most memorable place I've visited Haw Par Villas' court of hell... because I turned my stomach upside down! I wonder how the children react to all this blood and torture..... : (
Absolutely great page, good info & fabulous photos! Well done, Phil!! Night safari & Bird Park are my favorites, too. Your pics made me really homesick for this old home of mine... :-)
This is a great page. The festival pics are really good
U were here? Wow, I`ll be back to check this pg out (again)
