Nightlife Spot: Tiger Tiger
The good thing about Tiger Tiger is that you can go there for a complete night out. On 4 floors there are 5 bars, 2 dancefloors and a restaurant. It is open until 3am.

Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club: Jazz in Soho

Nightlife Spot: Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club
This is the most famous Jazz Club in the UK and one of the most famous in the world. Most of the great jazz players have played here. It has been open since 1959 but Ronnie Scott died in 1996. Even now the venue hosts some real legends of jazz. Only last year I was walking past and noticed that Elvin Jones was playing. Man, this guy had played with the immortal Coltrane.

The Punch and Judy, Covent Garden: The Punch and Judy, Covent Garden

Nightlife Spot: The Punch and Judy, Covent Garden
A very touristy place but okay for a few drinks. The clientele are mainly tourists and 'Jack-the-lad' City types who go there after work. There are bars upstairs and downstairs as well as terraces outside. The picture shows the upstairs terrace that looks out over the plaza where buskers and street entertainers can be seen. Prices are quite expensive as this is a tourist area and they can get away with it. What really bugs me though is that they don't fill pint glasses up fully (short pints). If it happens to me I request that they do fill my glass up. Of course, tourists wouldn't know any better. This is really bad and there are stiff fines imposed by the weight and measures authorities if this gets reported. Some pint glasses have a line on them that indicates a pint. If your glass has one of these then the beer should come above this line. Regular pint glasses that don't have a line should be filled completely. There should be liquid right to the top of the glass and the frothy head should be coming out of the top of the glass.

bimmerpilot Fri Apr 18, 2008 22:16 UTC Thanks for the description and photo of the A. Angelucci coffee shop in London. The next time I get to London, I'll have to stop in to sample the beans. I also sent the photo and text to a good friend named (surprise!) Virginia Angelucci. | Toshioohsako Sun Feb 3, 2008 11:09 UTC Very interesting tip. Have been to London more than 20 times, but have never seen this. I am going to L gain in two weeks and will consider to see it if my business time permits. | mtstranscribe Wed Nov 7, 2007 05:17 UTC Love Boudicea. I see you have been to Colchester. Ever been in the castle ? There is a miniature Boudicea display. For a penny she moves around in her chariot called Boudicea's revolting machine! I wonder if anyone else thinks that is as funny as I do? | volopolo Fri Sep 29, 2006 19:50 UTC Lovely page! and nice pictures. Nikos |
