Touting: Foot Massage?

This is not dangerous or anything, just a warning that if you walk around Hat Yai you will get a lot of attention from the massage places in town. There are lots of them and every one has many employees. A foot massage costs 250 Baht an hour. I actually think this is quite expensive when you consider that there are millions of Thais who make around this amount in a day and work 12 hours or more. All the massage places have clubbed together though and through this cartel system keep the prices high.

As is the case in many Asian countries, you will find that lots of places will not tolerate the eating of durians on the premises. Eat your smelly fruit elsewhere.

... the scourge of motorists across the world. Although it may appear that on Thai roads there are no rules or regulations the Thais are pretty hot on parking fines. Like everywhere else, I guess this is a good (and easy) source of income for the local authorities. Watch out where you leave your car if you drive to Hat Yai.

Just arrived back from hadyai trip. Paid US$35.00 for a room at Indra Hotel. Its was chinese new break. Hotel was in a bad shape. They did not vacuum the room and the toilets are in the bad shape. The reciptionist was not friendly at all. | makando Fri Jan 5, 2007 07:22 UTC
