  • Fondest Memory: The sights and sounds of Chinese New Year. The smoke in this photo is the result of letting off firecrackers which have been banned in other parts of the world. They sound like gunshots going off!

    Religion: Buddhism
  • Tip Rating:

  • Fondest Memory: One of my fondest memories was finding a small Wat while I was walking around Hat Yai. I sat inside for a while as it was a very peaceful environment and began reflecting on Buddhism and what it meant in real terms to the Thais. I wanted to find out more about the religion.
While sitting there with these thoughts going through my mind a monk walked over and gave me a small book titled "Buddhism in a Nutshell". It was perfect for what I wanted! I offered him some money but he refused. I left a donation in the box at the temple.

  • Fondest Memory: Walking around and meeting people. These two lads had obviously invested in Singha shares and were doing their bit to increase profits. We chatted for a while but despite their invitation it was too early for me to start drinking beer.

    General Street Scenes: Caged birds
  • Tip Rating:

  • Fondest Memory: The Chinese like caged song birds. Hat Yai has a large Chinese population so consequently this is a common sight on the streets.
