The Oriental Hotel: Great food with a touch of class

Restaurant Name: The Oriental Hotel
Regularly voted as one of the top 10 hotels in the world, I cannot justify the cost of staying there but it is a great place to eat. There are a variety of restaurants and the service is out of this world.
Favorite Dish: When in Thailand I love eating the local food but there always comes a time during the trip when I really fancy something like a club sandwich and fries or something. This kind of meal is available is available at the Oriental and tastes delicious. Go on - indulge yourself while in Bangkok!

Lemongrass: Good Thai food in authentic Thai style restaurant

Restaurant Name: Lemongrass
This was a Lonely Planet suggestion which is unusual for me as I rarely look at their 'Where to Eat' info. The food is very tasty even though it was about 3 times as expensive as I'm used to paying in Thailand (still cheap compared to most other places though). The inside of the restaurant is Thai style with lots of carved wood and antiques, which was nice to see. It's amazing that apart from Jim Thompson's house I have seen very few places in Bangkok that have what I consider to be a true Thai style interior. The ambience was very pleasant but it was not the place to be eating alone as it is quite intimate and I felt conspicuous being by myself. Also, there looked to be some nice dishes that were intended for several people to share.

Restaurant Name: Ichi Ban
After a month of eating almost exclusively Thai food I fancied something different. The food here really hit the spot. Like many Japanese restaurants the cooking area is quite visible from the dining area so I saw my meal being freshly cooked. It came with a free bowl of soup and cup of tea. Very cheap too. Friend chicken with vegetables and a bowl of rice for 90 baht.

Restaurant Name: Mrs Balbir's Indian Restaurant
Apparently Mrs Balbir is quite a Bangkok celebrity and has her own TV show on a Thai cable station. In addition to running a restaurant she runs Indian cooking classes and organises walking tours of the Little India district. The meal was very good but I still maintain that Malik's in Cuckham is the best Indian restaurant at which I have eaten. Not that cheap for Thai standards. I paid 600 baht for a curry, rice, naan and one large beer.
Favorite Dish: The lamb rogan josh was very good.

Restaurant Name: Pomodoro Spaghetteria and Pizzeria
A very nice place if you fancy a break from Thai food. The interior of the restaurant is spotless and the service is excellent without being over-attentive. Pizzas are very good.

Restaurant Name: Street food
There is food just everywhere in Bangkok. On the streets are hundreds of vendors selling all kinds of food from stalls or from the sidecar of a motorbike. It is generally okay but I don't tend to eat from street vendors very often in Bangkok. I just find that when I sit down for some food I need to get off the street and away from the noise and pollution.

The photo may not show it very well but the food being sold here consists of different insects. I didn't try any in case you were wondering.
