"Topographic Landmark in Eastern Washington" Steptoe Butte State Park by yooperprof

Poetic Topography

The Palouse is an interestingly undulating region south of Spokane in Eastern Washington. It's an agriculturally bountiful place of wheatfields and grazing lands, and also features mesmerizing knolls and odd cloud formations that can seem like something out of Middle Earth. Steptoe Butte is a peculiarly rounded hill in the middle of the Palouse. It's an excellent place to have a picnic, read some poetry, and watch the clouds go by.

This is part of Washington excellent State Park system. You can drive all the way to the top of the butte where there is a small parking area and observation platform.
