The Great Miami is a wide river - and it has a history of flooding! Hence the high embankments on either side.
This is the imposing Montgomery County Courthouse in central Dayton. It's a perfect example of the 19th century Greek Revival style, widely popular in the USA before the Civil War. Several important cases involving the Underground Railway were tried here in the mid-1800s.
