"To the Lighthouse" Split Rock Lighthouse State Park by yooperprof

Don't curse the darkness! Be a beacon of light for storm-tossed travellers! And be sure to build solidly on a foundation of rock!

Birches are nice. They are thick on the grounds of the state park here. This area reminds me of Russia, although I've never there. Not in this life, anyway. But I think I may have had a previous existence in a Dostoevsky novel: "Chet Chetevich, please bring me the samovar."

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park has a good visitor's center. There are historic displays, a theater where you can see a short documentary film on the building of the lighthouse, and a gift shop with lighthouse "stuff" from all over the Great Lakes.
