Getting to Mackinac Island is a Breeze!

Seriously, it's almost always rather windy on the ferry out to the island - and cooler than it is on the mainland. Even if you are just crossing over for a day, you might want to bring a sweatshirt or a sweater for the journey!

You can bike, you can hike, you can ride a horse

Hurrah!

No motor vehicle traffic is allowed on Mackinac. That's zero. None. Nada. Oh, they do have carts on the golf course - but they're not allowed anywhere else. And private jets do take off and land at the airstrip.

It's nice to see bicyclists in command of the road. Notice too that once you get away from the "town" and its fudge shops, most people don't lock their bikes.

Evening is my favorite time on the island. Take a walk!

Chet I love the thought of a place that really truly has no cars. Seems to unusual for this country and nice glimpses of the past! Is the fudge really THAT good?

This is a photo of the Round Island Passage Light, built in 1947 to replace the Round Island Lighthouse. It is located just off the south end of Mackinac Island, opposite the beautifully restored brick Round Island Lighthouse.

Super page, Chet. The next time we are together ask me to tell you my near death experience on Mackinac Island! Loved your tips about Ft. Mackinac, & the churches. American Fur Co. was unique.

You have never spent a night on the Island, prefer B&Bs to hotels and still waste my time reading your "review". Reviews should be written by someone with actual, real-life experience with that being reviewed.

Enjoying seeing the pictures from Mackinac Island as you ad them; Nancy, Melody-dog and I were just there a couple of weeks ago (day-trip only), and really had a good time.
