The famous "Out of Town" newstand in Harvard Square is an authentic Cambridge landmark - with an incredible variety of reading material, some of it published nearby and some of it published very far away. |
| | Does Harvard Hate America, or Vice-Versa? Fabled Ivy-covered halls. . . The Massachusetts Bay colony established a college here in 1636 for the education of faithful men, and the institution has had a notable run since then. Simply put, Harvard is the "gold standard" of private American universities, the symbol of the highest standards and the most honored maintenance of the highest academic standards. My undergraduate college called itself (rather facetiously, I think) "the Harvard of the Midwest." Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are taught not to respect higher educations; in much of the USA Harvard has also come to stand for elitism, and in such an anti-intellectual country as this one, that's a very bad thing. |
There be angels here. . . You may pass them unaware. | | |

WashingtonQT Wed Jun 15, 2005 17:35 UTC Great Page! FYI: Non-Harvard affiliates are no longer allowed in Widener, and they're pretty strict about it. | rwlittle Sun Feb 27, 2005 20:37 UTC I did not know that about Annenberg Hall! |
