Santa Cruz's lighthouse - on a beautiful fall day in 2003. I was out there with family for my younger brother's wedding - what a great time of year to be there. High temperatures in the 70s, lows in the mid 50s, and clear, calm skies. I have to hand it to them: my brother and his bride are both "Weather" people. They met in the Atmospheric Sciences grad program at UC Davis. Now, Cindy is finishing up her PhD at UC Santa Cruz, and they'll probably be moving before too long. So - sadly - I don't know when I'll again have a reason to get out to this part of the world. |
| | rough seas I was in Santa Cruz in January 2002, and the surf was exceptionally rough. My brother says this is typical winter weather in the Monterey Bay. |
Another coastal view - near Pescadero State Beach California State Route 1 is the classic coastal road: heading south from San Fran you pass through Pacifica - the "House of Sand and Fog" suburb - down past the communities of Half Moon Bay and Pescadero to Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay. It's a great drive - and it gets even better further south. Check out my Big Sur and San Simeon pages. | | |
