A VT kind of place - travellers and their stories about at this tavern in Nørreport. Good beer selection and great conversation.

beers for queers (I can say that)
Masken is a small gay pub in the "gay district" of Copenhagen - though it's not tremendously "dense", there are other gay and lesbian establishments nearby. This is where I came to watch the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest - a good choice, as the patrons here were involved and appreciative. Masken has two floors, both intimate - "hygge" in the Danish sense. They seem to have some of the special theme nights that gay bars around the world feature, but for the most part it struck me as a comfortable and friendly "local".

Why only nightlife? Don't people gather socially also in the middle of the day?
Nyhavn 17 is where I met Cachaseiro, Razmatac and Todd from Pennsylvania here on a nice Saturday afternnoon. Claus tells me that this is where VT meeting are often held - I wonder if that explains why the place was being renovated! We had a pretty mellow meetings, but I suppose things can get out of hand, especially if travellers from Wichita are present.

Kongens Bar bills itself as the oldest continuously operating tavern in Copenhagen. Uncharacteristically for me, I somehow neglected to have a drink here while I was in town.
Well, it's good to have a reason to return, isn't it?

Zymurgy in Zealand
You gotta hand it to the Danes for even allowing this place in their national capital. Lord Nelson mercilessly bombarded their city in 1801, killing hundred of civilians in a "pre-emptive strike." Oh well, let bygones be bygones, and enjoy the superior Danish microbrews that are on tap in this low key and pleasant pub in the center city. At any given time, they have about a dozen local brews on tap, in styles ranging from American to English to Danish. Did you know that Denmark has become the microbrewery capital of Europe? This is an excellent place for visitors (and locals) to see what those crafty Danish brewers are crafting.
And free wireless access as well! I want to live in Copenhagen because of places like this!
