  • Warwick Castle is one of the best castles that I've been to. The first version of the castle came about in the year 914. There are many areas of the castle to explore as well as gardens, an island, and the Avon.
Admission prices depend on the time of year that you visit. Castle is open every day (except Christmas Day), 10am - 6pm April to September, 10am - 5pm October to March. Last admission half an hour before closing.

Things To Do: Interior of Warwick Castle

  • The interior of Warwick Castle. The castle is made up of different sections which can be explored by visitors; they include: the mound, the ramparts walk, many towers, a chapel, a dungeon, a torture chamber, an armoury, and more. One of the towers is supposed to be haunted - the ghost tower. I didn't see any ghosts. They had some cheap special effects in the ghost-room...not scary.

  • Peacock in the Warwick Castle Garden. The conservatory in this garden was originally a home built in 1786. Now it's full of plants. The peacocks are definitely a must-see.

  • The River Avon runs right next to the castle in Warwick. It runs from Warwick to Tewkesbury. You can find a bridge near the castle which will take you to an island on which the Countess of Warwick used to keep animals...an elephant for example.

  • A nice cathedral to visit. It was founded in 1123. What I remember most is the crypt that can be explored underneath the church. And, I also remember that it was raining at the time, so it was a good time to go inside.

I liked the Warwick castle but also didn't see any ghosts there. Maybe you should put this tip in tourist traps? ;-)

Even Ghosts are commercialised:-) You're right, nothing like good old fish and chips (non American-style). Drooling.....

This is the coolest castle I've been to in England too, no doubt! It has its rivals in Scotland and France, but in England, Warwick is tops for atmosphere...ohhhh, unless you count the Tower of London. Now that is in a class to itself! ;-)
