"South Africa by Rental Car! " a South Africa Travel Page by Bwana_Brown

I had to present a technical paper at an international conference located between Johannesburg and Pretoria, so my wife and I tacked on another 2 weeks for a self-guided tour. We rented a car and covered about 4000 km as we headed east to the Drakensberg Mts. (Sabie), Kruger National Park, Swaziland, south to the Indian Ocean (Durban), back into the Drakensbergs at Royal Natal National Park before arriving back at Jo'burg. We finished the trip off with a 3-day stop in Zimbabwe with acquaintances from our Africa-stomping days of 20 years earlier. We have been around the world and visited over 20 countries but we both agree that this one was the best vacation ever (still is)!
