"Best Beaches North of Cuba" Grosse Ile by Bwana_Brown

Grosse Ile Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 6 photos

Grosse-Ile offers you quite a choice of enjoyable activities. It is the second to last of the northern islands, and is populated mainly by about 550 English-speaking inhabitants of Scots descent - representing only about 5% of the Madeleine's total population. This area has the oldest remaining forest on the islands, great cliffs, an amazing large and remote wildlife sanctuary and probably the best beaches on the islands - all in an 'off the beaten path' location, even for the Madeleines!

To see how we arrived in the Iles de la Madeleine, check out my Ile du Cap-aux-Meules page.

Pros and Cons

Lovely little page about this gem of Quebec. Especially the Lobster boats look very picturesque.

The real name for the beach is Old Harry beach. The name for Club Vacances des Iles is now La Salicorne. I live in the area and I thank you for your input about Grosse Ile. Wynn Currie

Great finding! A kind of place I'd like to see! Great shot of East Point National Wildlife Reserve.

The wildlife refuge looks so isolated. I like it.

That seems to be real wilderness. These are places that should have more visitors. Or may be it is better they have not !?

I remember many such "cemeteries with a view" in Ireland - not a bad place with a steady fresh breeze for eternity !

Never thought about it, but beer's not good on a windy beach, the particles get caught in the head!

Interesting news pages. So you don't want to admit you were sentenced to salt mines? ;)
