| Route 66 Through Albuquerque |
After touring around in northern New Mexico for a couple of days (see my NM page), it was time to get down to some serious meetings in Albuquerque. This was mid-July with temperatures of about 36 C, yet the low humidity made the heat quite bearable - I did not even break into a sweat like I usually do! My impression of Albuquerque was of a clean city with wide and modern streets and buildings, yet the actual downtown area was smaller than I had imagined it would be. Maybe it was the heat of summer, but there never seemed to be too much activity in the way of either traffic or people. Since I was in town only from Monday to Thursday, maybe things are a bit more lively on the weekends? When I did venture out in the evenings, most of the action seemed to be concentrated on Central street only two blocks from my lodgings at the Hyatt Regency hotel. Photo shows a view down Central St. with the downtown anchor Bank of Albuquerque tower and, to the left, a bit of the similar roof pinnacle on the Hyatt. |

Even on a business trip looks like you saw more than we did on our even shorter stay. | Camping_Girl Tue Jan 6, 2009 22:01 UTC This looks like a lovely little city to add to my travel list! | TheWanderingCamel Sat Dec 6, 2008 12:39 UTC My memories of Albaquerque are of miles and miles of planes and long strings of chillis.
