Our Sunday lunch location was at a nice Pub on Coronado Island, just on the westward side of the San Diego harbour area. It was very pleasant to sit outdoors and enjoy a few warm rays of sunshine after a long and cold Canadian winter!

Favorite Dish: I had the BBQ ribs and a salad for $17 including the tip - not bad!

  • Restaurant Name: Baleen at Paradise Point Resort

Part of the conference fee included our meals at the Paradise Point Resort. Our lunches were served outdoors by the resort staff, next to their Baleen Restaurant. It was a prepared menu in both cases, consisting of a salad, main course of steak or chicken and then dessert. It was all very tastefully done and the dishes were brought to the tables without us having to lift a finger (except for the odd dive-bombing seagull!). We did have breakfast and an evening meal at the Baleen on a couple of occasions and found that these meals were not cheap (US$18 for a typical ham and egg breakfast!).

    Asti Ristorante: Gas Lamp Quarter

  • Restaurant Name: Asti Ristorante

On a free evening, we ventured into the Gas Lamp Quarter of downtown San Diego to experience dining off the resort. We ended up at the Asti in the heart of this area - one of many restaurants to choose from. I had a typically priced portobello mushroom entree ($13) followed by salmon fresco ($21). Both the food and the service were excellent!

I really liked the feeling of San Diego, your pages reflect that well. But I missed the zoo, pitty. Corinne

Your San Diego page is for me a complement to a too short visit. Besides the zoo, I do not remember much of the city. Thanks for sharing, Glenn !

San Diego is a treat in January, huh? We returned recently ... and then had a blizzard in RI. That's OK. Love the diversity.
