Hong Kong holiday

by Bwana_Brown - last update: Jul 18, 2007

Kowloon View of Hong Kong Island
I was working in Papua New Guinea to help keep their electric power system running back in the early 1980s and ended up going on a 2-week business trip to South Korea to witness factory tests of some large power transformers the company had bought from the Hyundai group of companies.

While returning to Papua New Guinea, I spent a weekend in Hong Kong with the Papuan engineer who accompanied me! I found it to be an interesting experience to finally be in the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong after reading and hearing so much about the Colony over the years. Our weather did not turn out too well - this photo of Hong Kong Island was taken from Kowloon on a changeable day!

Hope you get better weather when you go there next, but your general view of the place is still great.

HK is a great place for Chinese food as well as international cuisine.

Yes, your accommodation experience was very different from mine. As for shopping, because Hong Kong was the last place of our itinerary, we had hardly any money left.
