This 3-week trip to Spain over the Christmas holidays involved visiting both the inland and coastal attractions of Andalusia. We had invited my wife's sister to join us from the UK and she was able to manage a nine-day stint with us during our time in Spain. Because her interests lay more in the historical cities of this part of Spain, rather than the heavily developed coastal areas, I slanted our itinerary in that direction for this part of the trip - choosing two days each for Granada and Sevilla as well as a single day in the Cadiz area (sorry, not even enough time to work Cordoba into the mix while we were so close!) before we returned to the traditional 'holiday' coast.
In the end, although we enjoyed exploring these cities, there is so much to see that you should really plan to spend at least 3-4 days in each to have enough time to properly sample all that is on offer. It would also help to be aware of which days the attractions are open to visitors! Still, I don't regret anything - just being there and sampling a new place in the world is enough to make me happy. The bottom line - go, visit Sevilla and enjoy it properly! My 'General' tip provides a topographical map of this part of Spain, showing Sevilla's location as well as where we were coming from and where next headed. |

nicolaitan Mon Oct 26, 2009 14:29 UTC very nice informative and historical page - wish i knew about VT when we were there. great photos too. and now i know about the orange trees. :) | toonsarah Wed Sep 2, 2009 16:41 UTC Looks a beautiful city. I especially liked La Giralda - the brickwork reminded me of the Ismael Samani Mausoleum in Bukhara :-) A shame not to have had more time to explore, but at least you have an excuse to go back! | JLBG Fri Aug 28, 2009 05:48 UTC Sevilla is a must see ... that I have not seen (yet)! All these names sounds like a well known music, even when you have not visited! Thank you for this preview! I love you palm tree photo! | micas_pt Wed Jul 29, 2009 19:54 UTC Detailed review of your visit to Sevilla.
