While working in Papua New Guinea, I took my family south for a vacation in Australia. Cairns was the closest "civilized" destination, only an hour from Port Moresby by jet, so off we went! Cairns is a very beautiful spot, located on the Cape York Peninsula in northern Australia - we enjoyed our break immensely! Although we also had other visits to the Sydney/Newcastle area further south, this was really our one major vacation in Australia. The photo shows our two eldest daughters (10 and 7 at the time) beside a small river as we make the climb up into the Atherton Tablelands inland from Cairns. |
