No real dangers to speak of that we encountered. However, a couple of warnings. First, at Club Tryp it was necessary to stake out your selected sunbathing chair at the beach or the pool early in the day by draping a towel over it (these were supplied by the resort with a US $20 deposit at check-in). Near the end of our stay, we had one of ours stolen from a beach chair by a group of middle-aged Italians (the guilty party was identified to us by another guest who saw it happen). Needless to say, all was denied when we confronted them and we were charged the $20 fee by the resort. Another thing is - do not expect to make many telephone calls. The American embargo also applies to telecoms and it results in extremely high charges if you do manage to get a call out. I made a work-related call that was charged at US $8 per minute.
